So, I just tried out Pinterest. It is very cool. It just launched in 2010, and now has 10M registered users. I read that it is one of the top 10 websites in the world!!!
It is intriguing to me! Here’s why!
- Power to Women! I was interested when I heard it called “Tumblr for girls.” Yep, women drove its popularity and now its is sending and receiving more traffice than the 100M users on Google + ( more male dominated?!)
- Addicting. I wanted to try this out and ended up spending 2 hours exploring and learning.
- Value. About 9% of the top online retailers are offering Pinterest pins on their sites. I saw reference libraries for tech products, recipe folders for Food companies, Gift Selections for retailers, and the list goes on. WOW!
- Easy! If you haven’t used it, watch this one![youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQP2dBMoCQ0&feature=player_embedded]
- Fun. I had fun. I love social and I love my social tools. This is one of my new Favs! What I loved tonight is the “bucket list” “recipes” “Top places to visit” etc.
Have you used it?
Hi Sandy, I’ve been pinning and have an Activities now called “Pinterest for B2B marketing at IBM” Check it out. I’d love to have you join the conversation. Also Follow me on Pinterest and look for my Smarter Software board. Marjorie Madfis
It’s intriguing but not addicting – not to me anyway. I haven’t found it as accessible from a tools perspective as other networks like Twitter, and whilst it’s visually interesting, the rush to copy the look and feel (see Pingram, Friendsheet etc all trying to overlay a Pinterest-style look onto other existing networks) indicates it is probably just the delivery rather than the content that is really drawing people in.
I am still playing with it!!!!
It is interesting how it is a draw to see the exact pictures that were found elsewhere on the web, with many being advertisement shots.
I do not gain a social value from the site, even through many boards are nice to view. I am not seeing where I gain insight into anyone through the pictures they did not create.
You should also be aware of the legal ramifications that are still under review when you pin something to the site. You are constantly breaking numerous copyright laws.

Also why is the #ls12 hashtag still being used on posts?
Um. Interesting on Pins. Thank you so much for sharing with me!
I use ls12 to continue my friendships for all who attended!!!! Why do you ask?!
I only ask about the tags it is isn’t common to use event/conference hashtags this long after an event when the topics are not about the event itself.
