A few people have me about inspirational leadership. This is my video blog trying to express what it means to me. I’d love to hear your thoughts too! [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EV0h1zf2Zl0&feature=youtu.be] PrevNext
Thanks for sharing, Sandy!
An inspiring leader makes sure his/her people have what they need to do the job, and then trusts them to take on bigger, more ambitious projects. A relationship based on trust and respect makes people want to do their very best, and capable of taking risks.
Super. I love it!
This is great, short and sweet. Thanks for posting.
Do you agree with the thoughts? Who has been your most inspirational leader and why?
There are quite a few candidates, both at my workplace, and away from it. I wouldn’t say there is 1 that is clearly above the rest, but rather there are several people in which I can take certain aspects of their leadership skills.
Well said. This is a great reminder for managers, thanks for posting.
Thank Rod.
Such a good message Sandy – an inspired team or entrepreneur can move mountains!
YES! Inspiration is essential!
Inspirational leaders do three things for me
#1. Get me invested in their vision
#2. Provide a clear notion of why I matter to that vision
#3. Personalize it in an way that I don’t want to let them down.
I really love these 3. Does it matter if you like them?
Sure it helps if you like the leader, but certainly not a requirement. By way of a metaphor, If you ask me to help you move or paint your family room I really have to like you, but if you want me to help you raise a new barn or build a cool new multi-level deck with a fire pit I will connect with the end result and it doesn’t matter as much if I like you. In the later case I would even bring the pizza and beer.
