A wearable I need ! What is it?
First Fitness Tracker Designed For Swimmers (Compliments to Ray Hammond for his future trends)
Yes, since my injury I have been doing a lot of PT in the pool. But there really hasn't been a FitBit that shows me how I'm doing!
It had to happen - iHealth has launched Wave, a swimming tracker that aims to help improve performance in the pool.
The wrist-based device is designed to work in and out of the pool, and will count daily steps, activity and active time.
However, it's in the pool that Wave really comes into its own. It's capable of recording stroke type, number of strokes and calories burned, and displays the information in iHealth's MyVitals 3.0 app, before offering a full report on your session.
Fascinating! First wearable to .....
First Wearable To Analyze Your Saliva (compliments to Ray Hammond on his future trends!)
Your spit says a lot about your health, and now there’s wearable technology being tested to track it.
Researchers at the University of California, San Diego, have demonstrated a mouth guard with electronic sensors that can detect concentrations of certain chemicals in saliva. Such a gadget could be useful to soldiers, pilots, athletes, and even hospital patients.
The group recently revealed a new sensor that can detect the concentration of uric acid—an elevated concentration of uric acid in the blood and urine has been associated with various metabolic disorders.
This is the second sensor the group has made for the mouth guard. Last year, it showed that it was possible to measure lactate—elevated concentrations of which have been associated with muscle fatigue, among other things.
The device wirelessly transmits the information it collects to a smartphone or computer via Bluetooth Low Energy, a technology that consumes much less power than classic Bluetooth.

Beijing SmartCamp Winners Revolutionize Dental Care and Recruitment in China!
Some exciting news comes our way today after this past weekend's Beijing SmartCamp event. Two innovative startups have created exciting solutions that will help revolutionize dental care and recruitment in China.
Congratulations to 51Hunter and Haoyayi for their exciting new products!
To give you a brief overview, 51Hunter uses an advanced algorithm to match talent seekers with talent in the industries of finance and banking. Because so much of China's gross domestic product is based on human capital, this algorithm serves to reduce the transaction cost of this match, and further deeply reduce recruitment costs.
Haoyayi has built a search engine to fill a much needed gap in pairing dental patients with quality dentists. China currently only has around three hundred state-owned dental hospitals and three hundred million patients. Most dentists in China are private and there are two-hundred thousand of them. This search engine will match the patient with the dentist through an internet search engine.
"Haoyayi has bright market foreground and the user needs will be very large in the future," said one audience member of Haoyayi's solution.
We're excited to continue to follow the stories of these startups in China and wish them well in their next round of IBM SmartCamps. Congratulations Haoyayi and 51Hunter!

Colorado SmartCamp Winner Works to Bring Attorney-Client Relationship Online!
Colorado held their SmartCamp event September 10th at accelerator partner Galvanize in Boulder and finished the evening by awarding an innovative legal advice technology startup the winner!
Congratulations to Congo for creating the first online free market solution for the legal industry. Clients can schedule an appointment with an attorney in less than 60 seconds (think Zocdoc for attorneys ).
How does Congo work? With three simple steps Congo takes away the pain of searching for a lawyer by streamlining the search process, delivering the information and credibility needed to make an informed decision. Attorneys are licensed, vetted and have no history of malpractice. When I say simple, I mean simple.
Step 1. go to www.congo.io - find an attorney for DUI, Criminal Law, or Business Law
Step 2. Book an appointment
Step 3. Connect by phone or video
Congo was originally a school project that started in a CU-Boulder Entrepreneurial class in the Spring semester of 2013. . Their long-term vision is to bring the entire attorney-client relationship online.
Congo leverages IBM Softlayer in their solution and is learning more about how Bluemix can benefit their mission.
Congratulations again to Congo. Follow their story on Twitter at congo_io.
